Tuesday Cartoon

First Howard, now Rudd, harping on about a national curriculum. Whoever wins, we’ll land the Prime Minister’s vision for education.
And there I was thinking that promoting localized diversity was the point of having a federal system.

Sure some localized diversity is a good thing but so to is a consistent core curriculum that teaches our children the basics of literacy, numeracy and some understanding of where we, as a nation have come from. The teachers may know HOW to teach but it is the parents, through their elected representatives, who have the right to determine WHAT it is that our children will be taught.
I will however award brownie points to Rudd on this occasion for standing up to the teachers unions who have been so keen to maintain their stranglehold on WHAT is taught to OUR children.

and some understanding of where we, as a nation have come from.
And in 1788 the brave Arthur Phillip started Australia. All the black people just melted away happily into the bush. In 1901 the queen gave us permission to have a central government. And we were the most pure, democratic and loving country the world has ever seen. The end.

A national curriculum, a single vision of history, determined by the likes of Johny Howard. That’s the sort of history, that’s the sort of shared vision of where we came from, that Johny would like to impose.

Your problem with this line of argument is that the ALP are now saying pretty much the same as The Tories …8) we will be getting a national curriculum no matter who ever gets into the Lodge nest time.

I think that was rather the point of the initial post.
Tweedle-dee and Tweedle-dum, they’re both rotten, so vote Green.

Vote green
? Now that would be the waste of your vote; if this is the issue that floats your boat then you have to decide which, in your own opinion, is the lesser of the
evils.

No, this is a democracy. Citizens have the right to vote for any of the options. The notion that a person “has” to choose the less of two evils is a lie, and it’s a lie pushed by those two parties in order to firm up their own position.
When it comes to education, the Greens have the best policy, and they are who I will vote for.
Now stop being such a goddamn troll.
