This might save a sunburnt country.
Perusing the wb as I sometimes do, I was heartened to come across this little snippet about YET another way Australia might reduce it’s dependance on coal powered electricity…but isn’t…YET.
Clearly the technology is available, it just isn’t being utilised, at least not to it’s maximum potential.
Clean, energy efficient, renewable energy from the sun, it is […]

Michael Noonan’s controversial and until now secret film footage that caused an international stir about the rights of people with disabilities has now been released to the public. Wikipedia, The Australian, the FMC, and glass houses
I was just alerted to a rather strange article in yesterday’s Australian entitled “Tribunal hit for Wikipedia ruling”. The article claimed that the Refugee Review Tribunal had been criticised by the Federal Magistrates Court for relying on Wikipedia to make a decision. The thing is - as should have been rather obvious - the site […]

“Blackberry Bolsheviks”
On a related note, can I just say that the term “doctor’s wives” annoys the hell out of me? It’s completely patronising and sexist. - Bec
Are you, like Bec, pissed off by the use of that outdated, rather meaningless, sexist and offensive term “Doctor’s Wives?” Then why not check out this new offensive demographic descriptor:
John […]

Hockey concedes AWA’s are unfair
AWA fairness ultimately up to employers: Hockey
…
Mr Hockey says he cannot guarantee employers will obey the new law.
“As we’ve seen quite dramatically over the last few days, no matter what safety net you put in place it can be abused by employers either honestly or dishonestly,” he said.
“So no one can give any guarantees - […]

g.ho.st - full remote computer - not just mail
There is a new service to web-browser-users that makes googlemail and the like look positively primitive, called GHOST (Globally Hosted Operating SysTem). It’s a but tricky to explain, but it is a full desktop that runs inside a flash player (using OpenLaszlo technology) that you access from (say) an internet cafe. It’s still in […]

Fortnightly(ish) Parliamentary Inquiries Post
This week, hear about an inquiry into which form of renewable energy is bestest, or one seeking “the truth” about whether schools are actually any use. Another inquiry looks at some very scary changes proposed by the government regarding the management of the Great Barrier Reef. There’s also a chance to peer into the dark […]

A fatwa on left and right
I am no political scientist or analyst, however, so my interpretation of these terms may not be accurate, but really analyzing what “Left” and “Right” truly mean and what interpretation of these terms is more important is a discussion for another day, really
As the closest thing the world has ever seen to an expert on […]

Coming Soon: Fascism and the Left
Over at Catallaxy Jason Soon has been talking about “Fascism and the left“, another recent discussion focused on the supposedly left sounding program of the National Socialist German Workers Party.
To be clear, Jason doesn’t say “fascists were lefties thus lefties are fascists”, I doubt be could ever commit such intellectual fraud no matter how strong […]
