John Howard on Yahoo! Answers
Howard’s foray into the new media continues with a foray into the world of Yahoo! Answers.
The question is:
If given the opportunity to ask the Prime Minister one question, what would that be?
For those of you who’ve never used Yahoo! Answers before, anyone can post an answer, and people can then vote the answers “up or […]

HowardWatch: Analysis of the second YouTube vid
Johnny has gone and made another policy announcement on YouTube. You can see the vid here, or just read the transcript here.
My response to the first video was to describe it as “Lies Plain and Simple“. This second video is very different, in a very scary way.
It’s effective. I’ll explain why, over the fold.

Howard Watch (19/05) - John Howard’s hollow spin on education
Howard’s weekly radio address was about education. In this speech he makes a number of patently false and misleading statements, including one about broad community support for the WorkChoices legislation.
Read on and be amazed.

HowardWatch: Howard in Tasmania
Johny is in campaign mode. Our dear leader spent Wednesday and Thursday this week were spent doing what the more cynical of us might call election campaigning. There was a “mental health funding” announcement in Burnie, a speech for the sake of having a speech in Bass and a couple of matching press releases.
The speech […]

Howard Watch (16/04) - Climate Change “realism” replaced by dirty debaters trick
After a hiatus of nearly a month, here’s another Howard Watch column, analyzing the lies of our Prime Minister point by point.
This column deals with Howard’s weekly radio address, which on the 16th of April dealt with climate change.
To begin with, notice how in this speech the words “climate realism” were absent, instead was talk […]

Work Choices did not result in High Employment
You don’t have to be an economist to see through this argument:
JOHN HOWARD: There is no doubt in my mind that there is a greater incentive for small business to take on new staff now that the threat of unfair dismissal action has been removed.
Economic growth, which we are seeing as a result of a […]

Howard Watch (10/4) - National Interest in Afganistan
We have a clear national interest in helping to prevent Afghanistan again becoming a safehaven for terrorists. - JWH
I could almost “buy” the need for Australia to commit more to Afganistan for a number of reasons. But this isn’t it.
One does not have to be a genius to realise that the minescule terrorist threat […]

Howard in Iraq - Just a Little too Convenient
Just as a minister is sacked for what is essentially gross corruption, just as another minister is appointed in his wake, the footage that dominates the TV news is of Howard, men with guns, and a daring escape from danger in Iraq.
The fact that this video exists indicates that the PM stayed on the plane […]

Howard Watch (9/03): More lies about the economy
Howard and the economy, it’s lies lies and more damned lies.
Over the fold, see Howard try and claim that he actually runs the economy, as I dissect a couple of the more obvious lies in the Prime Minister’s most recent weekly radio address.

Government’s pathetic stunt fails
Master politician John W Howard, thought he had drawn another get out of jail free card a couple of weeks ago when it was revealed that Krud had met with Brian Burke in 2005. The verdict is in, and instead of dealing Labor a lethal blow, he has merely inflicted a flaccid slap with a wet lettuce.

Who ya gonna trust? Mr Magoo or the Lying Rodent?
When Howard has secret meetings Dick Cheney, discussions with the nuclear lobby, or when Ministers meet with corporate or Christian lobbyists, it’s all right and proper, as God surely meant it to be. When a Labor politician meets with a lobbyist or trade union leader it is disgraceful – they must be up to no […]

Howard Watch: When in doubt, fall back on the “Labor’s debt” line
A real trend is emerging in Howard’s speeches of late. “Labor left us a debt eleven years ago”, this is yet another speech in which Howard talks at length about the evil’s of Labor government, and the blamelessness of his own party in everything that has ever gone wrong.
This speech has a difference. It’s not […]

Howard Watch: There wouldn’t be toilets under Labor!
In this speech the Prime Minister basically tries to claim that “toilet block upgrades” would not be possible under a labor government. I can tell an election is in the offing, it’s the second week in a row the Prime Minister has used his weekly radio address to remind us about the evils of “Labor’s […]

Howard Watch: Qalitee Edikation!
Evaluation: Not so much a pack of lies, as a failure to understand. Howard just doesn’t “get” this issue.
Today’s speech was a book launch, and I find myself at a distinct disadvantage in that I haven’t been able to read the book in question. As such I will take the unprecedented step of assuming good […]

Howard Watch - Now we call our climate change denial “realism”
Climate Change, “I’ll admit it’s real, but deny we need to do anything about it” was the theme of this weeks radio message from our glorious leader. Read on to see how the rhetoric has changed, but the policy has not.
This is also the first of what I hope will be a regular Howard Watch […]
